Welcome!

Thanks for taking the App Engine Boot Camp course.  This is the first time I've presented this material, so I hope you'll give me plenty of feedback about what has worked and what did not, so we can improve it over time.  We have a lot of material to cover in a short time, but I hope you'll find that you're able to use your time at the Startup Weekend event more effectively because of your preparation during this boot camp.

Goals for this course

By the end of this course you will:
  • Understand the basics of creating a web application using Google App Engine.
  • Have your computer configured with all the development tools needed to build, test, and deploy your App Engine application to the web.
  • Have created a starter application (under source control) ready to begin development of your App Engine application with other members of your team.

Who should take this course?

This course is designed for experienced programmers, who are not familiar with the App Engine platform.  You should have experience in programming in a high level language and have a basic knowledge of fundamental web technologies (HTML, CSS, HTTP).  You will be expected to learn the Python programming language by reading and working with sample code provided to you in the course.

What you need - getting ready.

You will need to bring your own laptop (Windows or Mac), and be able to install the required development tools - Setup.
